Hotel Komune Bali: Beachfront Luxury

Bali’s Beachfront Luxury Stay: A Visit To The Hotel Komune

Your total wellness reset is just one flight away...

When was the last time you truly did nothing?

Not staying in for the night rather than going out, or making a coffee at home instead of heading to a café. I mean truly sitting still for hours on end, guilt-free, with all the time in the world to enjoy yourself?

That’s what Komune Resort & Beach Club is all about. After just a few short days, you won’t feel guilty about all the relaxing you could ask for, and with plenty of options for adults, children and families alike, you won’t have to sacrifice anything to get yourself into a holiday full of relaxation (our personal favourite was the 6:30 pm nightly kids movie on the lawn, a very popular kids activity that we saw many families enjoy).

Overlooking Keramas Beach on Bali’s east coast, Komune sits directly on the island’s iconic black sand, facing its best right-hand reef breaks, which are floodlit for night surfing and popular with locals and tourists alike. The resort pairs the waves with a full wellness offering, including an on-site Health Hub, a Recovery Centre, IV therapy, daily Pilates and yoga classes, and the Art of Longevity programs. With its pristine volcanic beach, it’s a natural luxury escape where doing nothing comes easily.

This week, we had the privilege of checking in for a three-day stay in a 5-star beachfront pool suite (pictured). It came with our own private pool, views over Keramas Beach, and the perfect setting for a floating breakfast to start each morning.

Inside the Hotel Komune sits the iconic Beach Club, which has been voted one of the top five in Asia, with the executive chef drawing on worldwide experience for a delicious menu. Themed dinner nights serve nibbles from Asia, Europe and Australia, alongside live entertainment and major sporting events. We caught the NRL Grand Final during our stay, and watching it oceanfront with fellow guests was a treat.

So, whether you’re planning your next home-away-from-home holiday or simply dreaming of one, we invite you to read on for a look at our stay at Komune. Hopefully, we’ll see you there.

THE WELLNESS

I started my mornings the way most guests do, at sunrise, on a mat. Each day, a “What’s On” timetable that’s delivered to the rooms lists the classes on offer, and you simply ring through the night before to book your spot. I spent my mornings hopping between pilates and yoga, with the sun coming up over the Lombok Strait for a truly magical feeling. It’s a gentle, grounding way to begin the day, with the classes open to all levels and abilities. Beyond pilates and yoga, the timetable includes everything the Health Hub is known for, from functional training to mobility and breathwork, and even an all hours gym, which offers higher intensity classes for those who are love weights and HIIT. The classes are for adults, and the focus throughout is on staying active in a way that’s safe, healthy and sustainable, whilst having fun doing so (what more could you ask for?).

The Health Hub itself is the heart of it, with an adults-only lap pool, yoga pavilions and a functional training centre. After class, there’s the Recovery Centre, complete with an ice bath, sauna, hot and cold plunge and IV-drip services, catering to every phase of the wellness cycle.

The Komune also offers spa and massage packages on-site, the perfect way to totally indulge and treat your body after a day of working out and soaking in the sun. I opted for the ‘Goddess Spa Package’, a 170-minute deep massage, body scrub and facial that left me feeling rejuvenated, confident and totally awake. The team allows you to custom build your treatment, choosing between a coconut or chocolate body scrub and lavender, vanilla or lemongrass massage oil, so you’re in control of the products you want to use. As a gourmand girl, I chose coconut and vanilla. The treatment goes fast, and with a rose petal bath in the middle breaking up the massage and facial, it’s the ultimate rest and relaxation package.

This coming November, Komune have announced the opening of a dedicated longevity clinic offering hyperbaric oxygen therapy, VO2 max testing and full blood diagnostics. It anchors the resort’s ‘Art of Longevity’ program, a six-night retreat running from November 30th to December 6th, 2026, led by Rod Perez and Luke Egan. Inclusions cover body scans, nutrition and lifestyle questionnaires, hormone and immune-status screening, IV drips, recovery massage, daily mobility, meditation, breathwork and nutrition coaching.

Afterwards, for a little taste of privacy. you can retreat to a Beachfront Pool Suite, with a your very own plunge pool, waterfall shower, deep-soak tub and uninterrupted beach views. As for the families, Komune runs Kids Wellness Weeks each Christmas school holidays, with five days of surfing, movement and healthy habit-building for children available on offer.

THE BEACH CLUB

For all our meals, we stopped by the Beach Club, a beahfront and poolside dining area that’s perfect for enjoying a delicious meal and totally switching off from your phone. Set at the famous Keramas surf break, it’s open to day visitors as well as hotel guests, and it’s designed as an all-day spot to lay in teh sun, go for a swim, enjoy trending music, check the waves and say hello to a neighbour.

The approach is half the fun. The Beach Club is found along a short walk through Komune’s organic gardens, along a sandy path lined with tropical fruit, and ending at the iconic Keramas break. With 200 metres of private lawns and gardens, there’s no shortage of Instagram-worthy photo opportunities. Be sure to bookyour day-bed in advance by calling the Beach Club ahead of time, as prime-spots pool and beach-side tend to book out quick. We booked our beds for all day fun, choosing to wake-up with a coffee, enjoy pool-side lunch, and wind-up with dinner, all without leaving our designated day-bed spot.

For the more active, there are four surf breaks right out the front, or you can take a stand-up paddleboard out for a ride. When the tide pulls low, the rock pools and crystal-clear lagoon are perfect for swimming and snorkelling. At one point, we even saw a couple riding horses along the beach alongside a local guide, talk about making the most out of your day!

Evenings bring a different kind of dining experience, with night surfers playing in the waves under the Komune lights. The club provides flood-lights, and night surfing is its own culture, so if you’re keen to catch a few waves under the moonlight, you’re sure to make a few friends on the waves. The Komune Beach Club offers an experience like no other in Bali. Everyone who visits leaves relaxed, sun-kissed and already dreaming of their return (as we are). The beauty of Komune is that you can enjoy every aspect of the region without leaving the resort. It’s the perfect package in one.

THE FOOD

Dining at Komune is designed around your day, whether you want to simply chill out, recharge your batteries, or start the party. Kick back and soak up the sun, “work from home”, check the waves and mix good times with good people, then let the food take care of the rest. Simple, tasty and fresh is the mantra, with everything from healthy juices and colourful cocktails to delicious seafood, authentic pizzas and fresh salads on offer. If you’d like to plan ahead, you can browse the Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert and 100% Plant-Based menus, the Bar Bible and the Wine List prior to your visit, or in your room package.

There are three dining options to choose from throughout Komune depending on where you are, the Komune Beach Club, the Health Hub and the Surfers Warung. If you want to get (or stay) healthy on holiday, the daily nutritious menu is built on fresh produce from the resort’s organic farm and local farmers. Salad bowls and fresh juices were the perfect post-workout treat to keep that health mindset kicking.

During our stay, we went from plates of delicious mi goreng to wellness booster shots (it’s all about balance, right?), exploring every inch of the menu. For the most authentic experience, we highly recommend ordering at least one meal from the Indo section, which is full of Indonesian-inspired dishes.

Our standout meal, though, never left our room, and the one item I recommend above all else is the iconic floating breakfast, a delicious set menu for two served in our private pool suite villa. It included coffee, chia pudding, eggs benedict, granola, fresh fruit platters, and smoothies and juices, all enjoyed from the comfort of our own pool. It’s true what they say about the fresh fruit here being like no other: juicy papaya and dragon fruit atop raspberries and rockmelon meant we were truly blessed with the very best of the region. Simply order your floating breakfast the evening prior, along with your coffee orders, and be present in your room for set-up. The lovely staff take care of the rest.

Between the sunrise classes, the floating breakfasts and a Goddess-Spa day that felt like pure indulgence, Komune made it easy to do nothing and feel guilt-free about it. If a home-away-from-home holiday sounds like your kind of escape right now, we can’t recommend Hotel Komune highly enough, and we hope to see you there.
