It’s Giving European Summer, But in Bondi

Rameau d’Or brings a blush tinted taste of the French Riviera to Bondi this summer

Bondi has officially entered her Euro Summer era, and no flights or suitcases needed. You’ll find a slice of Côte d’Azur parked right on the promenade where Rameni d’Or has set up a Rose beach bar for the season.

It’s a scene that feels like it’s been pulled straight from a long, lazy afternoon in the South of France and gently dropped onto Queen Elizabeth drive at Promenade Beach Bar. Think striped umbrellas, a bar cart, deck chairs, a floral arch and everything blush.

Picture this, a swim down North Bondi one afternoon, throwing on your favourite summer cover up and wondering over, salty and sun kissed to the rosé beach bar.

The hero of course, 2024 Rameau d’Or Rose, crafted from 30-year-old vines in the heart of Côtes de Provence. It’s pale, crisp and perfectly chilled, the exact wine you’d be drinking in the French Riviera, minus the long haul flight. Order a glass or wine and settle in, or rally the group chat and commit to a magnum. The cocktails lean into all things blush with a Rosé Strawberry Spritz, the herbaceous Rosé Sling and a lighter Rosé Sbagliato.

Let’s talk snacks. The menu is curated by Promenade Beach Bar’s Executive Chef Chris Benedet, who keeps things relaxed and a little indulgent. The highlights cauliflower popcorn with rosé mayonnaise, crumbed halloumi with rosé and native fruit chutney and a refreshing rosé and sour cherry ice cream to end your afternoon with alittle treat.

From Friday to Sunday, DJ’s take over with sound tracks that make time disappear when you’re sitting with your besties. Suddenly the sun setting, Bondi’s skies have turned a soft and organe pink and you’re all promising you’ll be back next weekend.

Bondi may be a long way from the South of France, but for a few hours under striped umberella it doesn’t; feel like it.

Rameau d’Or Rosé Beach Bar runs all the way through to April, opening daily from 11:30am until late, with walk-ins welcome and bookings here.
