Oxford Street Is in the Middle of a Renaissance
At the centre of it all is 25hours Hotel The Olympia
Oxford Street’s having a bit of a renaissance. The cladding’s recently come off buildings, Soho House is quietly under construction, and there’s a real sense that things are shifting. At the centre of it all is 25hours Hotel The Olympia, set to open this September. Once the heartbeat of Sydney’s nightlife, Oxford Street is finally sounding like itself again, only this time, with better wine lists.

Taking over the old West Olympia Theatre and the Grand Pacific Blue Room, the hotel pays tribute to two iconic venues that helped shape the city’s art and social scene. The walls honour the neighbourhood’s vibrant past through bold design and layered storytelling.
The hotel’s 109 rooms are split into ‘Dreamers’ and ‘Renegades’ levels, a nod to its cinematic roots. The lobby’s been reimagined with subtle throwbacks to its theatre days, and little touches throughout the building bring the old Olympia spirit back to life. True to the brand’s motto, “Every cool city needs a 25hours Hotel,” the Sydney edition leans all the way in and with a vibe that feels more neighbourhood hangout than hotel lobby

The food and drink offering ties it all together. There’s The Palomar, with bold flavours and fire cooking that draws from the Mediterranean and North Africa. The Mulwray upstairs for cocktails and wine, Jacob the Angel downstairs for coffee and baked goods. And Monica on the rooftop, city views and 1960s Hollywood energy. Each space has its own feel, but together they hit that sweet spot between local favourite and destination dining.
It’s the kind of opening that actually feels exciting, not just another hotel launch, but something that adds to Sydney. Right where Paddington, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Kings Cross and Moore Park meet, The Olympia isn’t just a place to check in. It’s a sign that Oxford Street’s officially back.
Rooms start from $399, with 50% off for Dis-loyalty members until Christmas Eve.
