The New Bond: muk is Here to Restore Our Hair
Your hair's now in its hero era.
The name’s Bond. Treat plus+ Bond.
And much like Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan and all that came before, muk’s newest bonding product packs a real punch. Think of it as the at-home salon product that will go undercover for your hair, repairing your strands and rebuilding locks from the inside out.
But what is a bond treatment? How does it differ from conditioner, or keratin? And can we get the same results in the shower as we can at the basin? Luckily, the muk team were onhand to help us demistify this mission and reveal the secret weapons behind their latest breakthrough, three years in the making.

KT: Bond technology is not new to the haircare world, but what went into creating this new treatment for MUK? How long was it in development, and how many trials did it go through?
muk: While Bond restoring technology isn’t itself new, creating a new treatment that truly delivers on performance and usability, pushing beyond existing formulas, takes time and refinement.
For muk, the new muk Treat Plus Bond Restore System Pro treatment range, was the result of extensive research, focusing on identifying the right blend of active ingredients, capable of solutions, ie. detoxing and targeting and reinforcing disulfide bonds within the hair’s keratin structure, while maintaining compatibility with colour and professional services. This meant extensive lab work, stability testing, trials on human hair to ensure it could detox, strengthen, protect and repair the hair, without compromising on the feel and finish of the hair.
The process spanned several stages, across 3 years, with formula adjustments, multiple rounds of testing and feedback from professionals, to validate performance, safety and consistency across all hair types and conditions.
What makes the QuatProRiceA Peptide Complex (QPC) particularly effective in rebuilding hair’s internal bonds? How these components uniquely work together, and what benefits they deliver versus other bond repair systems?
The key ingredients in QPC – Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Sodium PCA, Arginine and Proline – form a peptide amino acid sequence that penetrate the cortex of the hair strand and reform damaged (disulfide) bonds, which makes it particularly effective compared to conventional bond repair systems. The rice derived peptides are small enough in molecular weight to penetrate the cortex, where they actively interact with keratin chains to reinforce weakened internal bonds. QPC connects with the damaged areas of the cortex, ensuring targeted infiltration to exactly where the hair is compromised. Together, these ingredients and peptides promote long lasting strengthening from within, while improving manageability, shine and resilience.
Unlike other systems, QPC combines bond repair along with condition, giving a comprehensive approach to structural integrity, tactile feel and cosmetic finish.
What was the reasoning behind launching the Bond Restoring range now?Did you see a gap in the market, or were you responding to feedback from stylists and customers?
The decision to launch the muk Treat plus Bond Restore System Pro range, came from both market insight and direct feedback from professionals in the industry. While bond-building products are readily available, many hairdressers were looking for a system that was simple to use in salon, offered advanced detox, in-salon service protection and repair, as well as providing a take home solution for the client to continue their healthy hair journey at home – the muk Treat plus Bond Restoring Mask 100ml.
Clients are demanding results that not only repair the internal structure but also deliver immediate cosmetic benefits like softness, shine and manageability, which they are not always experiencing with other products.
We recognised a gap for bond technology that was both highly effective and salon friendly, so the muk Treat plus Bond Restore System Pro range was developed to meet those needs – developed with science, tested by stylists and designed to deliver visible, lasting results.

How do you see this range fitting into the existing muk lineup and haircare routines? Is it designed mainly as a salon treatment, an at-home self-care ritual, or a mix of both?
The muk Treat plus Bond Restore System Pro range was created to seamlessly integrate with the existing muk product portfolio and complement both professional and at home care. In the salon, it works as a high-performance detox prior to colouring and treatment that strengthens and protects hair during and after chemical services, giving stylists confidence in achieving optimum results.
For clients, the take-home muk Treat plus Bond Restoring Mask, extends the benefits between salon appointments, ensuring ongoing repair, resilience, and shine as part of their self-care routine.
In short, it’s designed as a dual system — powerful enough for professional use, yet easy and effective for clients to maintain results at home.
Who is this treatment really for? Is it targeted more toward people with colour-treated and damaged hair, or do you see benefits for all hair types?
This treatment system is particularly powerful for hair that has been exposed to chemical services, heat styling, or environmental stress — areas where internal bonds are most vulnerable. However, because the technology works by reinforcing and protecting the hair’s internal structure, it offers benefits for all hair types. For heavily colour-treated or damaged hair, it delivers deep repair and strength. For healthier or untreated hair, it acts as a preventative system, boosting resilience, shine, and overall manageability.
The detoxing aspect of the muk Treat plus Bond Restore System Pro is specifically appropriate for blonde (porous) hair and any hair type that has been exposed to mineral, metal or medications that can build up and distort colouring services.
So while its core focus is restoring compromised hair, muk Treat plus Bond Restore System Pro is universal in its ability to maintain hair health at every stage.
