The Power of Pause: How to Slow Down and Reconnect

Psychic Jessica Lynne on Creating Meaningful Daily Rituals

In a world that celebrates constant productivity and endless scrolling, taking a moment to slow down can feel like a luxury. Yet whether it’s starting the day with a mindful morning routine, carving out a few minutes for meditation or simply creating space to be present, small daily rituals can help us reconnect with ourselves and restore a greater sense of balance.

We spoke with one of Australia’s leading psychics, Jessica Lynne, to discover the simple practices she turns to for grounding, clarity and a deeper sense of calm. She also shares her insights on how to reconnect with yourself, both physically and spiritually and create meaningful moments of stillness in your everyday life.

Why do you think more people are turning to spiritual rituals and practices to slow down?

I think people are craving a slower, more meaningful way of living. We are constantly switched on, and spiritual practices offer a chance to pause, reconnect with ourselves and find a sense of calm. Whether it’s meditations, pulling an oracle card or simply sitting quietly, these small rituals help us tune out the noise and tune back into what really matters.

How can spiritual rituals help us reconnect with ourselves, others, and the world around us?

Spiritual rituals create space for us to slow down and become present. When we take even a few minutes to check in with ourselves, we naturally become more connected to our intuition, the people around us, and the world we live in. They remind us to be grateful, to notice the little things, and to trust ourselves a little more. It’s often in those quiet moments that we feel the most connected.

What are some simple spiritual practices that anyone can incorporate into their daily routine?

It doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple practices like pulling an oracle or angel card, journaling, meditating, or even sitting quietly for a few minutes each day can make a real difference. Spirit connects through stillness, so the more moments of calm you create, the easier it becomes to strengthen your intuition, trust your gut, and recognise the signs and messages spirit is sending your way.

Why do you think younger generations are embracing spirituality in new ways?

I think younger generations are definitely more open to spirituality that previous generations. They’re curious, willing to explore, and less afraid to talk about intuition, energy, and personal growth. But interestingly, I’ve found the people who are really embracing spirituality are often women in their 30s, 40s and 50s. They’re at the stage of life where they’re stepping into their power, finding their voice, letting go of people-pleasing, and wanting to live more authentically. Spirituality becomes a tool to help them trust themselves and create a life that feels aligned.

I see it in my own family. My younger sister is learning to step into her power and trust her intuition by watching me do the same. I think that’s how it often works, that the younger generations are learning from the women around them who are doing the inner work, so they’re embracing spirituality much earlier in life. While they’re certainly open to it, I see the deepest transformation happening in that older age group who are finally giving themselves permission to put themselves first.

A little about Jessica Lynne

How did you first discover your intuitive abilities?

I’ve always been intuitive, but I didn’t fully connect with my abilities until I was in my thirties. It all began when my Nana passed away when I was twelve. I couldn’t bear the thought that she was just gone, so I become incredibly curious about the spirit world. I started sensing her presence through scent, especially a distinctive wooden smell whenever I sat with the box holding her ashes. Those experiences made me feel like she was still with me.

I then became fascinated by Psychics and Mediums. I went to all the Mind, Body, Spirit festivals, collected crystals, attended meditation classes at my local spirit shop, and did everything I could to try and reconnect with my Nana.

One day, a Psychic told me I had the ability to do this myself, but I had no idea how to access it. I held onto those words for years until I eventually found a Psychic who taught beginner classes. Within minutes of my first class, I connected with spirit in a way I’d never experienced before. It was like a lightbulb switched on. The ability had been there all along, sitting quietly beneath the surface, and once I was open to receiving it, everything just clicked.

What types of readings or guidance do you offer?

I offer Psychic Mediumship readings, where I connect with passed loved ones in spirit and bring through evidence of their personality, memories, and the life they shared with you, along with any guidance they wish to pass on. My focus is always on creating a genuine connection that brings comfort, healing, and reassurance that our loved ones continue to exist beyond this life. I also offer ONE Question Readings for those seeking guidance on a specific area of their life.
