Happening 11th to 14th July, Ananas in The Rocks is giving Bastille Day the full French brasserie treatment, anchored by a Cape Grim rib eye on the bone with bordelaise. Offering 11 dishes, all share-style that includes sourdough pain d’épi and salted cultured butter, Sydney Rock oysters with vermouth and chive, a bordelaise-sauced rib eye, served with frites, mashed potato and a butter lettuce salad with mustard dressing. Cheese follows, then a rum-soaked baba au rhum with Chantilly to finish.

Australia’s oldest brewery hotel, The Lord Nelson in The Rocks has launched a British-style Sunday roast experience, served two ways, throughout the heritage venue, complete with open fireplaces, fresh ales brewed on-site and the signature shared roast featuring all three weekly roast meats.

Etheus has announced the start of their Moussaka Thursdays. Happening every Thursday evening this midweek feast is anchored by Etheus’ claypot moussaka, ground beef, eggplant and potato layered and slow-cooked over flame, then brought out whole for the table. Around it: grilled pita with oregano and Greek olive oil, fava split pea with pickled onion and sumac, taramosalata whipped with cod’s roe and dill, and a maroulosalata of iceberg, lemon dressing and kefalotiri to cut through the richness. Minimum two people.

A new modern Vietnamese café and wine bar, Cà Phê Mai has opened in Double Bay. Cà Phê Mai is four generations in the making, drawing on Cindy’s family’s journey from her great-grandmother’s restaurant outside Ho Chi Minh City to her grandmother rebuilding her family’s hospitality story in Australia after arriving as a refugee. It is also a reflection of Cindy’s experience growing up between Vietnamese heritage and Australian culture, reinterpreting Vietnamese traditions through a modern Australian lens.

Happening from 16th to 19th July Taste France will be transforming East Circular Quay into a celebration of French wine beside Sydney Harbour. Featuring guided tastings, interactive masterclasses, wine cocktails and a curated selection of French wines designed to be shared and enjoyed. The activation forms part of Bastille Festival 2026, Australia’s largest celebration of French food, wine and culture, which returns to Circular Quay and The Rocks with more than 100 exhibitors, live entertainment and immersive French experiences.

Lana’s Chef Series continues on 21st July with a collaboration between Executive Chef Alex Wong and Firepop’s Raymond Hou, bringing together two chefs who draw on Asian flavours in very different ways. The $139pp 11-dish menu blends both approaches across dishes like baby abalone with preserved olive and konbu, Pacific oyster with fermented green kiwi, lamb and yoghurt dumplings with charcoal lamb jus, and fermented corn gelato with miso dulce and sheep’s yoghurt. Guests can also add the $65 ‘Sicilia, interrupted’ wine pairing, featuring a line-up of Sicilian wines selected to complement the menu.
