For us, Mardi Gras is all about celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, but most importantly it’s a night for us to dress up, put our skimpiest dress on (think Paris Hilton circa 2000) and throw glitter with zero judgment. It’s a night you can dress to the nines, wear the highest heels you can find and sparkle the night away while dancing to Kylie Minogue rubbing shoulders with the most fabulous drag queens on the dance floor.

So what does one wear to the biggest queer party in Australia? Think pink, glitter from head to toe and shoes that would make Carrie Bradshaw gasp!

Pretty in Pink

Think barbie chic, a pink mini dress and sunglasses will make going from a drag brunch to the parade, a ladylike breeze.

Rocking sequins is the funnest way to play dress up and stand out from the crowd and the dancefloor!

Glitteratti

There is no limit to glitter that you can put on your body for Mardi Gras! Body glitter, clothing with glitter and a little glitter on the face never hurt anybody.

Thigh-high boots, 6-inch heels and platform sandals are the only dancefloor options for dancing to ABBA and Gaga on Mardi Gras night. Look for bold colours, shiny textures and things that will make a drag queen throw a compliment!
