Why You Should Shop B-Corp Certified Brands
& a list of our favourites
Whether it’s World Earth Day or World Environment Day, we know full well that sustainability is at the forefront of the majority of brands’ ethos, but some brands pledge to do so to the highest degree. It’s here at B Corporation who recognise these extensive efforts by measuring a company’s entire social and environmental impact and awarding them with what is basically the highest certification for sustainability on all fronts – a B Corp Certification.
What does it mean to be a certified b corporation?
Certified B Corporations are leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. It’s the recognition and appointment that these companies are meeting high standards of performance, accountability, and transparency on all factors such as employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.
How do you get certified?
- Show high social and environmental performance. Brands need to achieve a score of 80+ on the B Impact Assessment along with baseline requirement standards.
- Pledge a legal commitment through corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
- Showing transparency by allowing information about their performance measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
The not for profit holistic movement for economic systems change not only focuses on making a change on environmental impacts, but it also focuses on companies building trust with consumers, their communities, and suppliers helping to attract and retain employees.
