When Jean Paul Gaultier drops a new fragrance, we’re not just excited, we’re intoxicated, and that’s exactly what its newest release, La Favorite, sets out to do.

A homage to the Maison’s cult 1999 fragrance, ‘Fragile’, La Favorite brings a piece of JPG history to the women of today, those who transcend trends, who can’t be defined by a single aesthetic, and who never sought to be flawless, only unforgettable. She’s the woman La Favorite was made for.

Beyond its striking JPG bottle, which revisits the stylised female silhouette of the 1999 original, the scent itself is a vibrant, sensual blend of floral amber, ylang-ylang and citrus. Created by perfumers Amélie Jacquin and Quentin Bisch, La Favorite unfolds like an encounter whose ending is already known, you know it will never be well-behaved.

Nowhere is that clearer than in its smooth floral heart, built around Queen of the Night. A rare white flower, it reveals its fragrance only after sunset. It does not seek to be seen by everyone, and unveiling its scent only when night falls.

Then comes benzoin, which gives La Favorite its depth, warmth and trail. Long associated with more traditionally masculine territories, it blurs boundaries here. Like La Favorite, it prefers to reinvent them.

Finally, tonka bean leaves behind a softness and an indulgence, with hints of vanilla that settle into memory and stay there. It’s equal parts sexy and showstopping, mysterious and feminine.
