These Pride-Inspired Sparkly Chains Are The Perfect Mardi-Gras Sunglass Accessory

It’s the most colourful time of year to celebrate all colours of love for the LGBTQIA+ community. At the annual Mardi Gras event in Sydney, Sunglasses Hut has collaborated with designer, jeweller and artist Nikita Majajas of Doodad & Fandango on some very pride and colourful sunglasses chain. 

To Nikita and her LGBTQIA+ community, Mardi Gras “Is so much more than just a yearly festival and parade, but a rich and diverse collection of people with unique stories to tell.” Adding “It’s the best festival in the world, everyone should experience it at least once if they can!”

Having “First marched in (the) street parade many years ago and since then have done it nearly every year with family, friends and community with floats,” Nikita knows glitz and glam well. So in true Nikita fashion, her sunglasses chain is bright, vibrant, channelling all shades of lovers with glittery coloured hearts.  They’re the ultimate accessory that oozes fabulousness, “Because there is nothing better than accessorising your accessories.”

To celebrate the launch of the limited addition very prideful sunglasses chain, an event was held at Cafe Freda’s in the heart of Darlinghurst, a very significant location for the LGBTQIA+ community. The location couldn’t have been any more fitting really. 

Perth born drag queen, Hannah Conda was the special host, encouraging guests to embrace inclusivity, diversity and their unique style. With Brisbane based singer/songwriter Beks performing while we enjoyed a seasonal sharing menu.

To spread the love even further, Sunglass Hut and Doodad + Fandango have teamed up with local charity Twenty 10 which supports LGBTIQA+ youth through housing, mental health, counselling and social support. This collaboration will allocate 10% of eligible sales directly to the charity.

The sunglasses chain (that also doubles as a necklace), will be available as a gift with purchase in 10 selected stores across the Eastern states from 19th February with purchases over $350.
