Where You Need To Eat & Sip This June
Here's our tips on where to dine out this month
And just like that, we welcome winter. It’s the frosty mornings, steamy lattes and evenings spent at dimly lit bars for me.
This month I’ve curated something for everyone to enjoy. Read on to find out more about a three-day food and wine affair, perhaps you may like to join the hunt for a quintessential Aussie icon or maybe a short road trip down to the Southern Highlands – whatever it may be, there’s definitely something you’ll enjoy this June!

North Bondi Nami
Our summer favourite North Bondi Fish is hibernating during cooler months and a Japanese izakaya-style pop-up taking its place.
North Bondi Nami (nami translates to “wave” in Japanese), will focus on using some of Australia’s best produce, serving you warming dishes from bowls of ramen, shared plates of gyoza and ora king salmon with chickpea miso marmalade. The vibrant cocktail menu inspired from Japanese flavours is one we definitely can’t wait to enjoy.
On the weekends, you’ll find the option of group banquets showcasing the best from their menu, with the option to add paired cocktails, sake and wine.
North Bondi Nami will be open on June 18, North Bondi Fish returns in Spring.

Lucky Kwong
Weekday lunching in South Eveleigh all of a sudden just got very exciting with the opening of Kylie Kwong’s new casual Australian Cantonese cafeteria-style eatery, Lucky Kwong.
“Lucky Kwong is all about true nourishment. This eatery is a celebration of everything I love in life with care, community, collaboration and delicious, life-giving food at its heart,” Kylie Kwong mentioned.
You can expect those big Cantonese flavours Kwong is known for including steamed savoury pancakes and Kwong’s signature dish, the Steamed Prawn Dumplings & Sichuan Chilli Dressing.
The small menu will also feature daily specials that are set to showcase local producers and culinary collaborations with other chefs, so you’ll always have a reason to drop by during the week.

Sonoma’s Great Pie Hunt
This month, Sonoma Artisan Sourdough Bakers are inviting you on an ultimate pie hunt for your chance to hunt down and taste the brand’s signature version of the Aussie classic.
To join The Great Pie Hunt follow @sonomabakingco and stay tuned as Sonoma releases clues to where you can find pie tokens hidden throughout Bowral. Each token will nab you one of their flaky, buttery, and chunky meat pies.
Along the hunt, you’ll find bakeries and pie producers showcasing their hero pies, some traditional and some more inventive. Sonoma is sure to wet your appetite with a selection of mouth-watering Beer & Beef Pie with a Cider or the Pear & Cranberry Pie both made in collaboration with cult Sydney-brewery Young Henry’s.
Sonoma’s annual pie festival ‘Pie Hunt’ starts on 1st June, National Pie Day and runs until the end of the month.

The Winery & Cargo Bar’s Winter Igloos
This month we welcome back The Winery and Cargo Bar’s instagramable Winter Igloos for another year!
Escape the frosty afternoon and freezing evenings to enjoy food and drinks for up to two hours the cozy igloo. At The Winery, you’ll find Oysters, Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli, Baked Camembert and a Triple Chocolate Brownie served with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce for $59. For an extra $39 you can add on a two hour package of bottomless beer and wine.
Over at Cargo Bar, get cozy for 90minutes dining on the Harbourside Feast. For $59 per person, enjoy Mac and Cheese Balls, Tacos and Pizza with unlimited beer and house wine.

Cornersmith Cooking School at The Mint
From the pickling superheroes and waste warriors, The Cornersmith are back with a masterclass cooking school. Over the cooler months, you’ll find their pop up at The Mint – one of Sydney’s most dynamic and significant cultural institutions until August.
Drawing inspiration from its historic location, The Cornersmith highlights the importance of seasonal eating and preserving in a historical context as well as for the vital role it has in our sustainable future.
Classes run from Thursday to Sunday, book yourself in for a fun, creative and sustainable class. You have a choose of pickling classes, jam making classes or a Kimchi class plus so many more.

The Good Food and Wine Show
Back after a year hiatus, The Good Food and Wine Show festivities kick off in Sydney on June 25- 27. This year marks the show’s 21st birthday, with over 220 exhibitors, experiences and masterclasses to take you on a sensory journey of the very best food and wine Australia has to offer.
The three-day lineup focuses on celebrating local hospitality, producers, and winemakers from the Hunter Valley to the Southern Highlands as well as popular interstate regions including Margaret River, Barossa, McLaren Vale and Clare Valley to name a few.
In addition to celebrating local producers, winemakers, and distillers, there is an exciting lineup of celebrity chefs to show off their skills live on stage, including Miguel Maestre, Matt Moran, Colin Fassnidge, Justine Schofield, Silvia Colloca and Sammy Jakubiak.

Bangalay Dining x Yarra Yering Dinner
General Manager and Head Winemaker for Yarra Yering Winery Sarah Crowe is returning to the area she grew up in for a one night special at Bangalay Dining for a fabulous dinner affair.
Bangalay Dining Executive chef Simon Evans has curated a menu to match Sarah’s curated wine list for the evening. The menu is inspired by the surrounding natural bush, the creative yet simple menu allows for the Australian ingredients and flavours to shine.
Join both Sarah and Simon on Thursday 17th June from 6 pm to enjoy a 5-course menu and wine pairing.

Celebrate Truffle Season at Goodfields Eatery
You bet, it’s Truffle season! To celebrate, Goodfields Eatery has joined forces with New Zealand honey brand, Egmont Honey to launch an in-store truffle menu from 7th June.
This year Goodfields have amped up the truffle cheesiness with a wild mushroom pasty. Other truffle standouts we have to mention includes a Truffled Three-Egg Scramble, Garlic Butter Roasted Baby Scallops, Feta and Chive Biscuits served with Fresh Herbs and of course, Truffles as well as the 8-hour Truffle Beef Ragu.

Truffle Dinner Series at Fratelli Fresh
To complement Fratelli Fresh’s already extensive winter offerings is their truffle dinner series. Starting at Fratelli Manly on Thursday 24th June, Fratelli Miranda on Thursday 1st July, and Fratelli Westfield Pitt Street on Thursday 8th July.
You’ll be treated to four courses of aromatic, truffle-infused indulgence across the entrées, pastas, mains and desserts. For only $69 per person with an optional wine pairing at an additional $39.
